Who cares about the name?? It’s been called Dulles for so long that even if you change it now, people are still going to call it Dulles. The name is not the problem. The most offensive thing about that airport is the mobile lounge / people mover things that they still use, and are about to spend millions of dollars renovating instead of building an underground railway. I literally hate the place because of those things. I don’t hate any other airport, I don’t hate a train or bus station or any other entity. But Dulles sucks so bad- It’s like we have a 3rd world airport in our nations capital, and as soon as DCA or BWI have international flights, I’ll never have to fly out of Dulles again .
Wow, are you unhinged! There IS an underground train there already. And the people movers are no big deal. Dulles is infinitely better than National or BWI.
The underground train serves only 1 terminal, and does not move any of the passengers on international flights. They should have built the underground train for the entire airport, but didn’t due to cost.
The underground train served the A, B, and C concourses - both midfield terminals not 1 - since the day since it opened. Most international passengers fly out of B or C concourses, so most have used the train and will use the train. The currently under construction E concourse is being built directly above a train stop and is being built to support more wide-body United flights, both domestic and , yes, international. Honestly, even with queuing delays, the D people movers are pretty fast because they run non-stop between D and main terminal. If you think IAD is 3rd world, you should visit a 3rd world airport - with their truck-mounted stairs to board airplanes and long walks across hot tarmac.
Hilarious. I regularly fly to airports you’d consider “third world”. I can’t think of a single one that is more of a general pain-in-the-ass than IAD. I’m dead serious.
