So if they play ball, everything’s cool. They’ll get their courthouses secured and get bodyguards when they’re on official travel. But at ANY time Trump could pull the marshals, without telling anyone he’s doing it. Now imagine being a Democrat judge going on a junket, and all of a sudden your marshals are ordered to stand down or be fired, JUST as the Proud Boys Trump pardoned show up at the resort to have a word with you.

Yeah, THAT’S Trump’s power. He can have anyone eliminated just by melting away their safety. So they go along and just go through the motions so that it’s the little people who get hosed, not the powerful.[/quote]

What are you people going to do with yourselves in 5 years in the post-Trump era?  Trump will be lucky if he even finishes his term.  He's old, he's morbidly obese and out of shape, and very much appears to be suffering from dementia.

And it might even be less than 5 years.  I'm predicting the Republicans losing seats in both the House and Senate, jeopardizing his control possibly even  getting him impeached and removed (along with Vance if he was complicit).

And if Trump destroys enough lives (and this is already starting to happen) I won't be surprised if we have an uptick of incidents of some random guy at his last wits who lost his job and is living out of his truck setting off bombs or taking a shot at Trump or any other Republican they can manage to track down and get close enough to.  History shows that "safety melting away" goes both ways when you make peoples lives desperate and dangerous.

Who takes up his mantle?  I'll tell you right now that in 2028 Vance isn't your guy.  He's smarmy, weasely, flip-floppy and really not all that likeable.

Who else?  Not many in his orbit really have the charisma or whatever magic that Trump does.  And even that's only if they manage to survive in politics long enough, because Trump is constantly throwing people in his own orbit under the bus.  I predict that in 2028 you'll have a more circumspect, less Trumpy candidate.
