Does anyone know how they did at the Capitol Cup? They posted they had 32 teams in the tournament. On of their coaches posted: "Being on top isn't easy - it comes with a target on your back. it stings when others celebrate beating us, but that only fuels our fire to work harder and come back stronger."
We were with with them last year when they were more selective of players on teams, they had less teams and they were pretty good. (We are with a different program this year.) I noticed that this year, they did not do that well in this tournament (they did have a few 1st place and 2nd place finishes, but not as many as I thought they would have). I think they diluted their talent pool a little to expand the club size, which indicates a scaling up problem. I would have expected them to do much better than they did. But to be fair, it seems there was better futsal pure competition at this tournament than in years past. And, they put all their teams in in order to maximize playing time for their players. They have a great futsal program, I'd recommend it to anyone. It is a huge step up from our Club Coaches who put together a futsal program over the winter. They did well in Atlantic City last year (Which is a big tournament.) They will probably have to select only the best players to compete in that this year and collapse the Black and Yellow teams into 1 team to do that. Honestly, I think they didn't do that well in order to maximize player development over combining the best players to get wins in this tournament; but they will probably do that going to bigger tournaments. -Former club member.
They def stacked their teams and it wasn't to maximize playing time. It was to maximize wins.
Not quite, they could have put 1 team in each age group instead of 2 teams. I’m looking at all age groups, both boys and girls instead of just 1 age group. The teams they ‘destroyed’ was expected as those were just outdoor travel teams whose coaches convinced those kids to sign up for futsal, but those coaches don’t know how to coach futsal.
and how many trophies did they bring home this weekend?
Looks like just 3. Male u15 Female u8 Female u19
Probably worth mentioning that the better U15 boys teams (2010) played in the U17 bracket (including in10sity's). The Male U15 bracket looked to be mostly second and third teams.
Out of the 32 teams that participated, only 3 took home a trophy? Also, might be worth mentioning that their top 2011 team with the five DCUA player, the team that was the USFF National Champ lost in the semi.
I was there to watch the Semi. Many of the spectators were rooting for the other team to win. That in10sity team is not very well liked, esp the coach.
There were adults there who dislike the Kids on a futsal team and were openly rooting against them?
I'm with you. This sounds so childish. And I can't fathom a reason other than jealousy, unless the team has a history of dirty play (which they do not, as far as I know). My son is with a different futsal program and year and has a history of losing to in10sity, but we know kids and parents who play for them and they're good folks.
Envy and petty jealousy is all over the forum SOP for many
