He said that Taylor not revealing that she was not white made him think she was hiding things from him in order to craft a fake perfect image. So in other words, to him, being non-white is an imperfection, something he felt made her less-than, and he wondered what other “flaws” she was hiding. He’s somewhat redeemed himself in later episodes but to me that visceral reaction in that moment of shock reveals some foundational stuff that would be very hard for me to get over. [/quote]
