Oh the top of my head, we were driving the boys somewhere and cop came up with the lights flashing and my kid said "Nate, what did you do?  why they after you?"

and of course he'll called my son a racist POS and everyone laughed.

I will acknowledge that this all sounds horrible, typing it out on DCUM.  But in the moment, when you see these kids that truly care about each other, you really do realize that this is how they are showing affection, making fun of the stereotypes, and taking the power back as a group.

And remember, 14/15/16 year olds are supposed to push boundaries.  And it really feels like they are doing that in a safe way with each other[/quote]

Do you think your kid would make that same joke if the parent of his black friend were driving? I wonder if the POC parents of your kids' friends think their kids live in a post-racial world where everyone is fine with race jokes. Curious if you've ever talked to them about it.
