Anonymous wrote: Yes, and it's especially unfortunate that D.C.'s locally elected government has no input into any of these decisions -- the U.S. Attorney is nominated by Biden and confirmed by the Senate (obviously). People who were upset about the proposed criminal code and who hailed passage of the updated version ought to realize that none of that makes any difference if the feds won't prosecute the cases under the new laws. It’s hilarious that you think Brian Schwalb would be more aggressive at prosecuting adult crime than the USAO.
No kidding. Brian Schwalb has no interest in prosecuting juveniles (which is defined in DC as being up to age 26) for anything---no matter how violent. Lives in safe neighborhood in Ward 3. No one is spraying AR-15 rounds on HIS street. Believes that no DC juvenile offender should be held accountable; rather, they just need lots more social services---as if no one ever tried that before. Totally agree that the feds need to be much more aggressive re prosecution. Biden should lean into it because the progressive nuts in DC, San Francisco, etc. just make it harder for Dems to win national elections.
