No, immigration isn’t a non-issue. We can all see the sharp increase in homelessness under Biden over the past four years. My previously safe neighborhood now has serious problems with homelessness. And these are folks who are out of their minds on drugs, victimized by a raging drug trafficking organization.

No, I’m not going to pretend that sex-based differences do not exist and that hard fought safe spaces that women have literally died to earn should be sacrificed to appease the religious beliefs of natal males. Female bodies have been literally killed — are still disproportionately killed — and yet you want to pretend all of that history has disappeared because some privileged males want to destroy sex-based rights? GTFO.

Democrats depend on voter turnout to win. That happens when people feel heard and feel like their reality is at least seen. The Democrats aren’t doing that now and instead going all out with gaslighting. It’s a failing strategy. [/quote]

He is doing literally nothing. He will not accomplish anything, consistent with his prior administration.

But what he isn’t doing is telling people to pretend that their reality isn’t what they are experiencing. He isn’t telling people that crime is down (when people experience a sharp uptick in crime), he isn’t telling them that inflation is down when everybody can compare grocery costs, he isn’t telling people that their daughters should shut up and be happy with lose to biological boys, he isn’t telling people that unconditional support for Israel is bringing peace to the Middle East, he isn’t telling people that just a few more billion dollars will stop the war in Ukraine.

He’s got dementia, he is incompetent, he is a malignant narcissist, and genuinely a terrible person. But he is not asking people to ignore their own lived experiences and reality. And that is why he is resonating. [/quote]

I agree with some of what you are saying...but crime is down in most places (but sadly not DC) and inflation is down (I just bought 18 eggs for $1.99 when we all remember they were $6 for a dozen at the peak; gas is now under $3/gallon in many places; airfares were definitely cheaper this past holiday season compared to prior two years).  Trump also offers unconditional support for Israel, but I don't hear much foreign policy.

Look, I don’t know what to tell you. I am a Democrat who predicted that Trump would win in spring of 2016 because I saw that he was emotionally resonating with people who felt gaslit and unheard by the Democrats. I posted as much in DCUM and was mocked for it back then. Now I see the Democrats making the same mistake here, telling people that they aren’t experiencing what they clearly are experiencing. Trump is an awful, terrible person who is a direct threat to democracy and yet at this point I think he is going to win, unless his dementia becomes too much to hide. It’s extremely depressing.
