It has more murders per capita than any major city in the Northeast and the West Coast. The only big city in America that comes close to the crime here is New Orleans and St Louis. Regarding crime, London, Paris, Madrid, and Copenhagen are bucolic, sleepy hamlets compared to DC. Excusing the crime as just part of city life is a slight to other less murdery cities.
