If you don’t know enough people, your sponsor will probably host a party to introduce you around. But you’ll need to cultivate friendships with those people - the club screens out letters from people who barely know you or who only know you through work, and it is VERY common for letters not to be accepted for those reasons. The letter writers all have to say that they have been to your home and you have been to their home, to make sure they know you socially. For applicants who don’t have a big network, it can require some time/energy.
