I cannot believe there isn’t any mention of the restaurant scene and Stella’s predicament. IMO that was pretty major.
Agreed but it was a really strong episode all the way through. My thoughts: - The scenes with Stella and the ad execs were definitely "major" and I think may be building up to something specific with Stella because we also know that she worked with Paul Marks back in the day and has referenced his lack of ethics. Will be interesting to see what happens when he buys UBA. A breakdown? A full dark side turn? Stella's got a big crisis of conscience in the works. - I really enjoyed Alex this episode. She was purposeful in her maneuvering and using all her leverage (her charm, her folksiness, her business savvy, all of it) to the best effect. And I did actually feel some sexual tension between her and Marks, which I didn't get in their previous scene. I liked the parallel of him taking her for a ride and now her taking him for a ride (two actually, if you count the helicopter, though maybe that was his). The story potential of Alex being the one to "land" marks and save UBA is also strong. - Meanwhile, Bradley... yawn. They want me to care so much about what exactly Bradley "owes" Cory for and I just don't. At least not yet. Just tell us and let it play out. Keeping us in suspense on something that already happened in the timeline of the show, and that multiple characters already know about, feels cheap. - Chris, Jango, Mia... I mean this storyline about the treatment of people of color at UBA is not going to end well for them, right? No way it's some heartwarming resolution. I hope Chris still comes out on top somehow, I'm really rooting for her after last week's great episode. I like the scenes that contrasted Chris's approach with Janko's cynicism and Mia's resignation. It fun getting to see these characters spend more time together and I find it believable that they would be having these conversation in this way in this situation. Unlike a lot of storylines about diversity and racial prejudice, it actually feels organic and nuanced. Well done. More Janko though, this truly cannot be said enough. - Ready for more Chip next episode though. I get why he wasn't featured in this one (no time, really), but I missed him. He offers more comic relief than most of the characters, though this episode was actually pretty funny even without him.
All of this. I loved this episode! I can't stand Stella.
