USAO had a press release this week of a carjacker sentenced to 5 years. The minimum sentence for carjacking in DC is currently 15 years but he was undercharged despite having prior weapons convictions. Yes, the handling of juveniles is problematic but it is the way the laws have been changed, esp under Charles Allen. Even the 15 yr old who murdered another 15 year old then tried to carjack and shot a football player will only be held until he is 21. Same with the girl with the more serious charges for murdering the Uber Eats driver in Navy Yard. [/quote]
