It just seems just such a waste to send kids a high ticket school for an education and then get so excited about who wins a meaningless lacross title. What's going to happen when these jocks get in to the job market and they are competing against pencil nosed kids from India and China with advanced degrees in engineering. I guess every office still needs someone to make copies and fetch coffee.
I learned recently that the madness about lacrosse is because kids around here actually get athletic scholarships to play this game.
Not really true. Division 1 lacrosse teams have a total of 13.5 scholarships they can allot across 35 or so players they typically have. If they give someone a full scholarship, that reduces the amount they can give the rest of the team. What a star typically gets is 1/4 scholarship and another 1/4 if they make their grades. Division II and Divison III teams do not have scholarships. The real value of lacrosse is that many kids get accepted at schools they would never have a chance and getting into.
