You aren't penalized or prohibited for celebrating/taking the day off. It's accommodation rather than changing Federal holidays as, ultimately, you aren't going to be able to capture everyone without a gazillion days off a year. The schools could do something similar...provide accommodations for missed days due to religious observance and not penalize the student with regard to work, tests, etc.[/quote] Yes!
