Colleges absolutely know which of their applicants are poor, and if they wanted to admit people on the basis of race-blind poverty, they could do that. But they’re not doing that. They are advantaging people on the basis of race independently of their economic status. This is a political decision, and nobody needs to feel bad about gaming a clearly immoral system.[/quote]
