Financial checks are based on self-reporting and (in my experience) they are looking for situations where you don't have what would be considered normal expenses. When we paid off a car and kept it we got a request to explain why we no longer had a car payment. No one is poking around in your bank accounts as a matter of course.

I can't believe these guys aren't re-polyed though. Polygraphs are BS, but they are also unpleasant as heck. A good incentive to keep your nose clean other than just being an ethical person.

Gift reporting is a joke. The only people that would get dinged for that are GS 12's that kept a bottle of whiskey. Witness Trump and Pompeo's disappeared foreign gifts. Barely in the news and there will never be any consequences.[/quote]
