Parenting means getting your kid ready for life. Today's hyper parenting trends robs kids of life experiences and mastery.

It does mean getting them ready for life. Leaving them in a hotel room alone is not the avenue to preparing them for that. 
By the way, you inadvertently agreed with me. Being independent as first post said is not the same as getting them to become independent for later life as you stated. Glad you agree with me. [/quote]
