The coach needs to tell you if they are protecting the athlete through admissions or if the athlete need to get in their own. Make sure you understand exactly what the process is and how your athlete is considered. In D3.... the admissions department should do a preread on the athlete and the coach must communicate if the athlete is or is not an OFFICIAL recruit.
