I'm surprised no one's brought this up yet, but she went into why she did what she did in the episode where she and Linda had a sleepover and Linda discovered the blue dress.  Monica was either assaulted or molested by a camp counselor when she was ~14.  It was a long scene, and she or Linda made the implicit connection with that incident and what happened with her teacher and then Clinton,.[/quote]
