Only if overrate means compare to some others’ sacred cow. Most of the schools discussed thus far are virtually the same.
Someone literally said Tufts would be the #1 or #2 school anywhere else outside of Boston... LOL but okay.
25 Largest MSAs New York (Columbia, NYU) 2/3 LA (UCLA, USC, Pomona, CalTech) 3/4 Chicago (NW, UC) 3 Dallas 1 Houston (Rice) 2 DC (Gtown) 2 Miami 1 Philly (Penn, Swat) 3 Atlanta (Tech, Emory) 1-3 Phoenix 1 Boston 4 Bay 3 Riverside 1 Detroit 1/2 Seattle 1 MSP 1 SD (UCSD) 1/2 Tampa 1 Denver 1 StL 2 Baltimore 2 Charlotte 1 Orlando 1 San Antonio 1 Portland 1 Pretty damn close.
This is... embarrassing. For you, and for Tufts.
. Mmmm no. Not really. No connection to Tufts. Simply dismissing the school because of what ever issues you have with the institution is kind of embarrassing. Like discussing politics with a Trump supporter.
+1 While I have some disagreement with how you’ve ranked Tufts in a few of the cities (in some I think it ranks lower, in others higher), I think the general spirit of the MSA posting is correct. Of equal importance, and as referenced in several posts above, Tufts is the kind of school some applicants choose over higher ranked schools for specific, even quirky reasons (size, location, disciplines, etc). It’s not to say it’s ranked higher than it is - just that it’s appealing to applicants in ways that are not common to other schools. So for the purpose of the OP, yes “there is a there there,” and it’s absolutely worth your niece considering. As for the need to bad mouth the school as demonstrated by several posts in this thread, that too is not unexpected. Some folks just want to feel superior no matter the circumstances. As referenced above, trying to argue with that perspective by using reason and facts is as futile as trying to convince a Trump supporter they are harming themselves and the greater nation with their misguided affinity.
