Considering that GS ratings rate schools on their test scores, college readiness, and how well they serve the academic development of disadvantaged student groups,  I say it's pretty useful. [/quote]

GS ratings are an average and [b]simply reflect an area's average affluence or lack thereof[/b].  I found the post quoted below that used demographic cohort as a proxy to isolate for SES differences far more revealing as to how my kids might do at one school or another.
