I don’t agree. We see how he feels about his paintings. We also know that this painting was very meaningful to him. He already knows his dad doesn’t support his painting as a career. He wasn’t supportive of his prize, the reception dinner, and is clearly embarrassed by his profession. You think knowing how his dad has not supported him in his passion where others have given him accolades, mixed with knowing the painting that reunited him with Libbe was purchased by his dad and then ruined would be no big deal to him?  No way. He may show restraint - like most times his dad brushes off his painting - but I doubt it. Remember when he walked out of the award reception when his dad was talking?[/quote]
