Female here I can’t speak to other things but I can definitely say my young son is not seeing boys on tv being role models. Everything is geared toward girls now. Characters being changed to female all the time. It’s ridiculous to swing so far to the other side so all I can show my son is old tv shows or movies with a boy lead.
Lots of male characters and male leads. What are you talking about? Younger kids: https://www.fatherly.com/play/most-popular-kids-shows/ https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/life/entertainment/g28087907/best-kids-tv-shows/ https://www.timeout.com/new-york-kids/things-to-do/best-kids-shows-on-tv-for-families Teens: https://www.thrillist.com/entertainment/nation/best-teen-shows-on-netflix https://www.glamour.com/story/best-teen-dramas https://www.ranker.com/list/teen-drama-tv-shows-and-series/ranker-tv I mean, there are some without male leads, but certainly not even half. How much representation do you need for your boy, and must it really be that highly prioritized over everyone else?
My kids are just out of the preschool cartoon age and the majority of those cartoons had all male characters with one token female. One of my daughters asked why there’s only one girl in Paw Patrol, or Agent Oso. Boys are still the default and the “norm.”
