People create and tell stories to have a sense of order. To structure what they feel is chaotic in the universe. Which is fine... but it's just a story in the absence of (or before) scientific understanding. Or to give comfort. But it's all completely manmade.

"it's all completely manmade" doesn't seem like a strong reason to discount something.  While scientific principles always existed, the [i]study[/i] and [i]understanding[/i] of science is "all completely manmade" as well.  Shoud we ignore that, as well?[/quote]

I guess the difference is that religion purports to be sent by God.  But of course there's no proof of that.  You just have to believe it.[/quote]
