I honestly don't know how anyone can watch any of these morning shows. No matter what time I turn it on, no matter how few I hear it for, it makes me physically cringe. The annoying fake personalities, the rubes in the audience, the pointless interviews, and the top "news" stories they hit. It is pure garbage.
BINGO
+1 I'm really surprised they are still airing. What's the draw?
Good question!
LOL. The Today Show is a business. If the current line-up of talent did not have good ratings, they would be fired. So many viewers must like Hoda/Savannah/Jenna/Craig/Al. Otherwise, they would be fired. So it's absurd to say that "no one watches this crap." I personally like watching the Today Show when I'm on the treadmill or getting ready for work. I have a nostalgia for the show because my mom used to have the Today Show on in the background when I was a kid and we were getting ready for school.
Good post and you're right of course. If the ratings blew they'd be gone. And people are watching including myself if for no other reason than to curse at the TV. Like you, I also have a nostalgic appreciation for TODAY as my mom liked it too. It does make me yearn for Ann and Meredith (not Lauer) and the good ole days. But that's exactly to your point which is their ratings were tanking and changes were needed. Too bad Ann Currie was made the sacrificial lamb. C'est la vie. BUT that does not erase the fact that the evolved format has reached a new level of insipedness such as nitwitted guests, egocentric presenters who think the news is about them and worse still that stupid Zoom wall showing little Kaylie in Nebraska celebrating her 4th birthday....Jesus God! Granted, a lot of the revisions have been pandemic driven but still I gag. I've just flipped over to CNN to now experience the ultimate in depression...daily roundup of news about Trump! Lol!! John from Boston...
