America is awesome. The fact that we all disagree, can't stand each other, have guns, learn to live together in a messy annoying antagonistic high blood-pressure mosaic, get to drive giant cars and foreclose on giant homes.....and will still defend each other to the death when we inevitably are attacked by China...is amazing. I'll never forget how the terrified, screaming, crying, worried liberal urbanites LOVED tough, mean, born-again, GWB after 911.
I don't know which liberals you were talking to, but the ones I knew, including me, were bitching about the fact that he ignored the warnings he was given beforehand and was clearly maneuvering to use 9/11 as an excuse to invade Iraq. We were not out on the Mall demonstrating our love for the guy. But I'm willing to let bygones be bygones. We've said 'bye to Cheney; why isn't he gone?
In the mid-00s, I started worrying that our kids will be taught the lie that everyone supported the wars. DW and I are going to sound like cranky hippies, spouting this crazy talk that not everyone rallied behind Glorious Leader. The media, in the Bush administration's pocket, didn't like the anti-war stories then, and now they don't like it because they hate having been wrong.
You are SOOOO wrong. Why is Obama still in Iraq and Afghanistan + Guantamino still open? answer...Bush was a genius, took down Saddam. Started Mideast democracy rolling (everyone said he was crazy that mideast could have democracy...truly visionary). Surrounded Iran with U.S. Bases. Took the fight to Radical Islams sandbox and kept it out of ours. Obama can't leave Iraq -it was Bush's genius bargaining chip. Iran takes down nukes...maybe we will leave Iraq...Iran becomes democratic...maybe we will leave Afghanistan. Iran continues mad man strategy...pull the noose.
1. The Arab Spring did not start because of Iraq, idiot. Tunisia and Egypt kicked things off with labor strikes. Now if you want Bush to be the new face of organized labor, go ahead with your fantasy. But it's my recollection that he is not a pro-union guy and neither are you. So don't take credit unless you want to start punching your union card. 2. We are going to be done with Iraq soon. Maybe if your party promised that, then you would have been elected. 3. Afghanistan is your mess, we are just cleaning it up. You should have put all of the troops there to begin with instead of invading Iraq. to avenge the Bush family and make money for Halliburton. 4. We would have a better answer to Iran if we hadn't invaded Iraq. Stupid Bush, we were so tied up there that Iran and North Korea started taking advantage of us.
