There are plenty of DA players who some ECNL coaches don't know.  Especially given geography -- e.g., BRYC may never have seen some of the FCV players, or not since they were U-little which is not relevant.  If those players show up and immediately stand out, they'll get a chance even without prior knowledge, and could displace another different DA player that coach thought she/he wanted.  the question is when and where do they show up.[/quote]

Bottom line, let your kid know she will have to fight for her slot on the team she is currently at. Honestly! My kid is excited for the opportunity for some of the top players to shift to her team potentially. She has been playing against them for years and knows them very well. As she is very competitive she wants the most competitive team. Hopefully we will get some coming to our club. [/quote]

Again this is elite soccer, if your scared of someone better taking your child’s spot then it is possible that she isn’t that “elite” I don’t mean to come of like a jerk so sorry if I am, I just know that my kid wants to be with kids that push her so that she is ready for that next step, college. Do you think she will just be given a starting slot because she was loyal to her club that she’s currently on or that she was a starter at the club. Absolutely not, she needs to work for that spot. Bottom line is this,  if she can’t fight for her slot now against kids around this area don’t even think about sending her to a D1 college, unfortunately she’ll never set foot on the field. [/quote]

LOL elite at 13-15 years old? No it’s middle school and high school soccer. I am so tired of the “water down” competition argument- need for elite teams. This is just for the parents. These kids change a lot from middle school to high school. There is too much emphasis put on winning at these ages. For what? A u15 ranking on a website? Have you looked at how many girls go on to play at an elite college program for these “elite” teams....not many. Most will never play college soccer.
The folding of DA just limits the opportunities for girls going forward. Seriously I have seen so many “elite” u13/u14 players disappear by u16. I also have seen bench players at u12 or 2nd team girl who switch teams and really take off. Coaches who like this or that player even though the player is weak. This just puts more power into a hands of a few coaches, limits opportunities for girls and feed ego of the parents. Elite soccer is about the top 2-4 players on the team. That is all the coaches and club care about. You will learn this over the next year or so. Yes I have gone through this twice with two different kids. [/quote]

Above commentator is a parent who’s child is middle of the pact who currently is starting but now might be benched and is scared at the prospect of them not having a home once the top DA top five go with the top ECNL five to make one hell of a team leaving the bottom 8-10 kids hoping they can break the starting lineup. It is a scary thought, but what does everyone think happens in College? I also have seen where it absolutely does matter when talking about the caliber of talent that’s around you in sports it pushes you to do better. If kids don’t have to work for their spot it makes them lazy and there is no urgency to be better to really unlock all that they could be. At the younger level it is almost better to be bottom of the pack, it teaches drive and determination. [/quote][/quote]
