I didn't read all 13 pages of this but I understand the gist. What really makes me LOL at these sorts of fights on here is that if you were to take a look at some sleep training threads this place LOVES Weissbluth. And Weissbluth LOVES crib naps. He is very clear that sleep in motion is not quality sleep. It's okay if it happens occasionally, but it should not be a regular thing. He even points out that us adults do not get quality sleep in motion (car, plane, etc.), even if we do, in fact, fall asleep.
OP’s baby can get crib naps on this vacation, by either herself or DH staying behind while the baby naps (most likely in a pack n play.) Or are you too stupid to understand that?
Wow, I was just commenting on the bits I read where people were tearing OP to shreds because they all "trained" their babies to sleep on the go and thus were superior mothers. I'm pretty sure nowhere in my post did I suggest where I stood on the trip in general. But since you inquired so nicely: I have a 1.5 year old who only sleeps in a crib. I, coincidentally, recently went to Maine with my extended family for the 4th, and every day between 1 and 4 (DS's nap time) at least 1 of us sat on the couch and decompressed. It was lovely. So to answer your question directly--no, I'm not too stupid to understand that.
