https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2019/03/ilhan-omar-anti-semitism-dual-loyalty-trump.html Another interesting perspective.
I will give this guy credit that unlike most of Omar's other critics, he actually was accurate about what she said. Her criticism was that Israel's supporters were pushing for an allegiance with another country. What I'm getting from articles like this is that the issue with her statement is that she said "allegiance". If she had said "support", I don't think most of those who are upset would complaint (but of course those acting in bad faith still would). But, to put into context what she said, consider this: This is a Christian group praising AirBnb being punished by the State of Texas because it refused to sign an anti-BDS pledge: This is a Christian group that is obviously putting Israel's interests ahead of a US company. The same Texas law has been used to punish US citizens -- even firing them from their jobs -- due to their refusal to pledge away their 1st Amendment rights. When Omar says Israel's supporters are pushing for allegiance to a foreign country, she is referring to things like this. These are not Jews doing the pushing and criticizing them is obviously not anti-Semitic. Lastly, people keep saying that it is possible to criticize Israel and not be anti-Semitic. Just to be clear, Omar was not criticizing Israel. She is talking about domestic political lobbies. A lobby in which Jews are likely not even the majority.
