Political appointees at Treasury-IRS played with the withholding table configuration so take home wages went up. This made it seem as if more people got a bigger tax break than in reality; these people would need to “pay back” the money at tax time in 2019. It was all a ploy to help Republicans in the 2018 mid term elections.[/quote]
