I have been there *many* times. I hate HOAs, and Kentland HOA is pretty restrictive. If I want to paint my door red or get any reasonable colored/style roof, I should be able to do that, but their HOA is pretty restrictive in terms of things like roof material and color. Plus, I dislike how close the houses are to each other (I have lived in these types of houses all my life), and I certainly think it's ridiculous to have a detached garage for that price point.
But plenty of people who are not you don't think it's ridiculous. I wouldn't want to live in Kentlands either (not that I could afford it anyway), but I think that there's a meaningful difference between "I don't want to live in Kentlands, but I understand that other people do" and "Kentlands is horrible, and nobody wants to live there".
Yeah, I don't understand the horror people seem to have over the detached garage. We walk literally 10 steps from our house to the garage. We live in a pretty temperate climate. I'd understand if it was Minnesota, but in Maryland it's really not a big deal.
But some people *do* want an attached garage at that price point. The humidity/heat in the summer is horrible. I dread going into my car when it's been parked outside during the summer. Plus, yea, I don't want to have to deal with the snow, even if it's only for a few days, if I don't have to. And I don't since there are plenty of homes around the area with attached garages. Of course I get that some people don't mind, obviously, because there are plenty of people who live there. You have your opinion; I have my mine.
