I call my daughter "little bug" which probably makes other people cringe, but I can't help it. We started when she was little and used to roll up in a ball very much like a small bug. It just stuck.  Comes right out of my mouth without me even realizing it.

I call my kid "Bug," too!  I called her "Ladybug" when she was little, and it somehow shortened itself.

But she calls my husband's father "Papa," because in his family, they call grandparents Nana and Papa, and have for generations.  My parents are grandma and grandpa.  [/quote]
