Talented Stars Blue Players were placed on Orange and left the club for other opportunities.
Capital made so many mistakes this year.
I'm not a Capital parent, but do have daughters that play lacrosse. A comment like this seems very subjective. I'm curious why you feel Capital made mistakes. Is it because the best players available were not selected over players who may have been better fits at specific positions? Capital seems to state in the tryout policy another poster linked that they are trying to put together the best team. Not necessarily a team with all the perceived best players regardless of position. This is an extreme, but just as an example, the 11 best field players trying out may all play attack. Would this really translate into the best team? Probably not. Also, one should point out there are many good players across NoVa. For this area it may be fair to say the best VA programs have traditionally been rooted in the McLean/Vienna/Alexandria areas, but as girls lacrosse has grown the sport has moved to outlying areas. More and more talented players are cropping up across Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William counties that are expressing interests in playing for the best club teams. Many have not even explored playing for the top programs until 7th/8th/9th grade, so it may not always be the case girls will know who these players are. With the growing number of players and improving talent pool in other areas it seems inevitable the make-up of Capital Lacrosse and other top club teams may take on a different look from years past.
And even more have quit the club. Sure these opinions are subjective but based on obsevatiions made by people who know the talent pool. There aren’t that many girls who play at the best level. Everyone has seen everyone else play. The selections and decisions made this year were bad. Many kids were treated terribly. The club is going to have to drop these teams to lower brackets if they want to have any success.
For your own sake, and especially for your daughter's, you need to move on. Panthera is going to have an interesting season with a lot of great opportunities and may even be more fun than Capital. Imagine, she may actually have fun playing now that the pressure is off!
