Stupid question but what happens if the student lies and applies as a minority that they think will get them an advantage? I read in the NYT that Asian parents were giving their children less typically Asian names, but what happens to a kid that blatantly lies on race? It’s not like the school can try to prove the kid is a liar, or is there a recourse?

Just curious what type of consequences there are and how schools would attempt to investigate and prove the kid lies. (Note, I’m not advocating anyone do this, honestly just curious)[/quote]

We had a white girl in my D's HS who claimed she's American Indian.  She got into approximately 5 Ivys.  Not sure how many Ivys she applied to.  Second hand info.

Senator Warren allegedly claimed the same thing.  Not sure if colleges even bother verifying info.  They are using it for stats purpose, not as a test of applicants character. [/quote]
