And in today’s gang related activity: http://wjla.com/news/local/police-ms-13-member-arrested-with-large-knife-outside-albert-einstein-high-school At least he wasn’t inside the school. But it scares me that apparently the gang individual didn’t have any hesitation about hanging around a school with a weapon.
Yea but I can point to a statistic that says there was more violence 20 years ago so, so, so you are just a racist for bringing this up.
Hi, I think I'm the one you're mocking. Yes, gang activity is an increasing problem in the county. The police are now getting extra funding to focus on it. But the problem I see on DCUM is the exaggeration of what this gang crime means to the general population, and the inevitable wholesale smear of entire regions of the county as crime-infested hell holes. I live in one of the areas people on DCUM seem to think is a barrio war zone, when in fact it is a great place full of my friends. I commend the police for taking this seriously, and I give credit here to Einstein for being alert to the threat and catching the trespasser before it became a problem.
Yes, from what I have read, after the economic downturn in 09, anti gang funding dried up, and gang activity started a several years long increase. It does need to be taken seriously and is a problem, but as you say, we are quite a ways from being a war zone. It's also important that undocumented people feel comfortable reporting crimes, and working with the authorities without fear of deportation. They are big targets of MS13 and keeping them silent won't help matters.
