The OP just sent a "report" with a lot of questions. Since I don't have a way to respond other than here, I'll answer the questions here: Because you didn't identify the school, parents are worried that this might involve the schools attended by their children, putting their children in danger. They also did not share your confidence that the school would adequately address a threat. As a result, some parents contacted the police and referred them to this thread. The detective then contacted me. He is trying to identify which school is involved and will try to contact you for that purpose. If you can provide me contact information, I can put you in touch with the detective and potentially save you from some embarrassment of being tracked down by him.
I must have more faith in the school that you all. Finally, the closure. School says they had a talk with all kids together today (the typical APS way of doing it). Apologies were made, etc..... I asked if police was informed, the school said they followed APS policy during the investigation and interviews to determine if law enforcement needs to be involved. The outcome of the interviews was that it would be an in-house issue. After speaking to the parents of the boy, the school is convinced that there is no longer a threat. Monitoring will continue etc.
I am stunned that they did not contact the police. This is why there are SRO's on site at all schools.
They didn't contact the police because none of this actually happened.
