BDSM is a FERISH meaning it's enjoyed by [b]a relatively small portion of the population[/b].  And yet what you described in your post is not just fetish work it's part of mainstream porn.  Meaning we can be absolutely certain that not everyone who films these scenes is into it.  Even still, much of the violence in porn comes as a surprise- omg act, that's the very point of the article OP posted- how painful the sex was and that the male porn star didn't listen.  No women d(lets go with 99% of them to please you :) ) don't want to have parts of them ripped open, they don't want to be punched, they don't want to hit in the face. Not the PP you were responding to but...you did say "No one in their right mind" but really, *some* women and men are into BDSM.  Why is it incomprehensible that the porn actors who do these things are part of that population?  You're not talking about porn's effect on viewers (you said it yourself) you're talking about the PORN ACTORS, who are likewise a "relatively small part of the population."

Sure.  But even most BDSM is not someone being punched and throttled.  BDSM is supposed to be controlled and to have a safe word- something sorely lacking in the reports coming out from the porn industry.

As I said, surely there are some people who enjoy BDSM- some of whom are actors.  But as I said, the acts named are not limited to BDSM.  Acts designed to intentionally be degrading and violent have leaked into all aspects of porn.  Which means women who think they are acting in a regular skin flick are now being subjected to them.  Women who's fetish is NOT BDSM and thought they had signed up for a normal picture.  So, it's disturbing across multiple levels. [/quote]
