SJC will need to improve its academic perception if it wants to get kids into Ivy League schools, NESCAC, and the Georgetown and the Notre Dame's of the world. Until the academic component is addressed, I think it will be play catch up to the IAC schools and Gonzaga for a long time.

Respectfully disagree.  The boys at the schools you mention are getting into great schools not because of their SAT scores or GPAs, or overall academic reputation of the schools, but because of their numbers on the field.  If St Johns builds a lacrosse powerhouse, the college offers will come.
