We played a team one year older and played 11v11 for the very first time.  The score doesn't tell the story.  I think we only got the ball in our attacking half maybe 3-4 times (and that was because of their defenders making a mistake passing it around). I don't think we completed one deliberate pass to a teammate in the attacking half and we did not get any shots off. I don't believe their keeper touched the ball once if my memory serves me correctly. The other team just passed the ball around in the 2nd half and we chased them. Some thought that it was a great experience.  I'm not so sure.[/quote]

Your first 11v11 against an older team? are you serious?

It is good experience to play 11v11 sooner than later. What did you honestly expect of them?

I'm certainly not upset but I'm trying to see what the kids should/could take away from this and was there a better game for them to play that this one?  I'm not upset but I would probably be a bit if I was a parent on the other team. I doubt they got anything out of it.[/quote]

What they should take away from it is this time next year they should be able to punish a 10 team in their first 11v11 game. Expect them to look like they've never even played soccer from time to time.

They shouldn't be upset. I wouldn't really worry about it. It is a big adjustment and it takes time. Keep reminding yourself next fall when things look awful then good then awful.
