I am just playing the devil’s advocate here, I think some people are upset over the way in which Israel was founded and apparently continues to expand borders. Just confirming that people were in fact kicked out of their established residences by Israelis. No judgment here, I just want the facts.
Even if this is the basis for people’s antizionism - this is how basically every country on earth was founded. Population transfer, displacement, arbitrary border-drawing, expropriation, war, etc. It’s fine to object to the way the state was founded, but if you think Israel and only Israel should be DISMANTLED for that reason, you might be an antisemite.
DP Or maybe there’s a difference. Maybe it’s that the people of those other countries that were established in less than peaceful transfers of power in the past are ashamed of the fact of how their nation dealt with indigenous people, as opposed to the aggressive, entitled weirdos we all see at the foot of Mt. Zionism?
Do you know any people from Muslim majority countries who are ashamed of how they treated their Jewish citizens? About 800,000 of them were expelled (roughly the same as the number of Palestinians who lost their homes in 1948). It’s literally never talked about. Pretty much not one single antizionist gives a toss. I’ll give you one guess why…..
Oh, beg your pardon? So there are several million descendants of the 800,000 Jewish citizens that you purport (incidentally, I’m not conceding that figure as I understand the number that were actually “expelled” involuntarily to be far, far fewer) were expelled from Muslim-majority countries, running around somewhere as landless refugees - just like the Palestinians? Yeah, I didn’t think so.
So you don’t give a flying f, as I said. Incidentally, the reason they’re not running around as landless refugees is because they escaped to other countries and built new lives there. They didn’t stay in say, Iraq, and establish separatist movements and demand that Baghdad be given to them/spend 80 years murdering Iraqi civilians to achieve that goal. Palestinians are pretty unique in that respect. A zillion other wars and internal displacements and population transfers took place in the 20th century but pretty much only Palestinians insist on being forever refugees rather than cutting their losses, compromising, and accepting a state that includes less than 100% of the land that currently constitutes Israel.
Wrong. They “escaped” to Israel and moved into the homes of indigenous survivors whose families were terrorized and slaughtered by craven, POS ghouls from Poland and Ukraine. And now we get to endure the kids and grandkids of those ghouls targeting the descendants of those survivors for shoving back. It’s tiresome, honestly. As many others have said, Israel should be cut loose and left to fend for itself. It is LITERALLY the only way for the State of Israel to persist much longer anyway. Israel will only compromise and work toward credible peace with its neighbors if the alternative is ruin. Otherwise, we’re all seeing the true nature of Zionism …
You have zero credibility here. Speaking as the descendant of one of those Jews who were expelled, my entire family moved to the USA and Canada, not Israel. And by “craven, POS ghouls from Poland and Ukraine” you mean the literal holocaust concentration camp survivors who escaped there right after WWII, right? Just to be absolutely clear. Absolutely, atrocities were committed by both Israelis and Palestinians prior to and during the founding of the state. But both groups are indigenous to the Middle East. And both groups were displaced from their homes.
Sure, Jan. Everyone knows those DNA tests lie, right?
You are literally responding to someone whose parents are middle eastern Jews. It’s right there in the post. I took a 23andMe test and it came back 100% Iranian, because I am 100% Iranian lol.
I hope you don’t have family in Iran or Israel because Iranian Jews are getting arrested in Iran and Israel right now out of suspicion of espionage. I feel for them
OP here and yes, this is what happened to several of my relatives in Iran after the revolution (despite zero ties to Israel), which is why they had to flee along with 95% of Iran’s Jews. That’s kind of the whole point of this thread. Antizionism is frequently used as a cover for persecuting innocent Jews. It has happened over and over throughout history, including in Iran and the Soviet Union. So when people say antizionism is not antisemitism, that may be true in the narrowest/most literal sense, but they’re absolutely missing the bigger picture. This two-minute video is really helpful in explaining this phenomenon: https://x.com/einatwilf/status/1785343372426940794?s=46
