2.  Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is an aptitude test.  Yes, it is used for the entrance to the military, but it is not military-specific. 
It is an assessment on a wide range of topics that secondary students should show proficiency in.  
I see nothing wrong with students taking such an exam.  If they are interested in the military, great.  If not, fine.  If they don't do well on the exam and are interested in a military career, they know what they have to do to prepare for one.
