Do we really think they’ll make a final decision on the 26th????
Quite possibly no. My guess is the BOE will want to give a few more months for community feedback and let tempers cool. Also, without a vote, no lawsuit can be filed, so a delay may cause supporters of legal action to worry about other things, and slow down any fundraising. The BOE may push the vote to late June or early July when families are on vacation and not thinking about school. It can then vote quietly.
Would love this to be true. Taylor insists that vote has to be now so that there is enough time to prepare for Crown opening.
Honestly, I am pro H. But I wouldn’t mind a delay. Crown won’t open until 2027, so why would a few months of delay make a difference? Perhaps a few months of delay where Taylor actually does some real engagement will allow tempers to cool like the other poster said. He shouldn’t be afraid to meet with anti H folks. He should instead try to engage them and maybe he will get some new fans.
I think they need to start over from scratch. First they should solicit community ideas how they should improve, have the major groups vote on the top 3 approaches, and go from there.
That’s what one of the candidates (Brett?) said. Too many options means no real option. Four options in October. Then completely new options in December. Zero community engagement btw once 12/1 options came out, whereas there were multiple community meetings for October options—though they weren’t the real options. No boundary study will make everyone happy. Someone will be mad at something. But this was done quite possibly in a way that maximizes pissing people off. Seriously, did Taylor sit there and think how can I piss off as many people as quickly as possible?
The options should have come from community groups and voted by the community groups. The biggest players being BBC, DCC, and every school cluster.
Woah woah woah. WE VOTE THE BOE MEMBERS IN. That’s where you vote. They represent each of us. What kind of dysfunctional model are you proposing? Vote on every decision? That’s a recipe for bottleneck and chaos. Your vote is for a BOE member. And if you don’t like the model, go to a private school where you can vote with your dollars. Otherwise, as taught in montessori, you get what you get and you don’t get upset. Toddlers are taught this and I guess you need to be taught this too.
