The Nationals comment is the exact type of cherry picked, datapoint manipulation that turns people off with iamyouthsoccer. There's so many variables that go into wins and losses. Looking at their rank on the soccer rankings app they seem to be doing pretty well i. ECNL. What annoys me is statisticly it was written by an ECNL parent who's kids club will never make playoffs.
At some point dont take everything so personally. I have a kid in GA mainly because they are close to my address and because i dislike the coaches at the ECNL program nearby due to an older daughter issue playing with them. It is great for her. The style of play suits her. She is developing better than she would at the ECNL team because her GA team plays possession while the ECNL team is more direct. And that is OK. Different strokes. But, OVERALL, ECNL is the far better platform based on literally every measurement. And to think otherwise is just copium. Nationals was a dominant GA team with literally every team making GA playoffs and winning multiple NC over the years. I am not sure any Nationals team made Richmond this year. That is not cherry-picked, that is data. The number of P4 recruits from ECNL vs GA is not cherry-picked, it is data. The ranking of the ECNL teams compared to GA is not cherry picked, it is data. Will that change any time soon? Maybe but not in my kids soccer lifetime I dont think, so i am not worried about it. And what difference will it actually make in the grand scheme of things? Virtually nothing. If you kid plays for UVA or Hopkins what will be the difference? After years of high level play my oldest daughter is not going to play in college and other peers of hers (D1 ability) have decided to play D3 and get an academic education vs playing D1 at all costs. Help you kid have fun and enjoy the sport and dont constantly worry about which team/platform is better than another.
As a parent with a kid on a highly ranked GA team that plays other highly ranked FA and ECNL teams. I can promise you at the highest levels GA and ECNL are very similar. I can also promise you that it doesnt matter to 95% of players in both leagues. You want to sell ECNL as some kind of miraculous conception. Its not. Youre doing it because ECNL clubs would rather sponge talent away from clubs around then than develop it themselves.
