The cycle of abuse has been debunked by several studies. Perpetrators who were victims of abuse are in the minority. Interestingly, the highest percentage of male subjects abused in childhood by a female relative became perpetrators.

No, that study does not debunk the cycle of abuse.  It says the rate of having been abused among male abusers is about 35% whereas the rate of having been abused among non-perpetrators is about 11%.  So, perpetrators are three times more likely to have been abused than the general population.   So, no, not the majority.  But if my 14 year old did what Josh Duggar did, by this study's results, that would mean he was 3x as likely to have been abused himself as a kid who didn't do what he did.  So, yeah, I'd definitely look into it.[/quote]
