Israeli officials have ordered the residents of about 30 villages in southern Lebanon to evacuate, in the first concrete demands since the military launched what it called “limited, localised, and targeted ground raids” on Monday against Hezbollah.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/oct/01/israel-order-evacuation-southern-lebanon-border-villages-incursion How does Israel have the right to tell Lebanese citizens to leave their homes? This is just messed up.
Would you prefer Israel not tell them and leave them at risk?
I would prefer Israel not attack a sovereign country. They have not right to do so.
Iran attacked first. And twice. Israel is well within its rights to hit back at Iran. So far, Israel has shown great restraint and done nothing at all to Iran or it’s citizens.
I think the gloves are coming off. It appears Israel took out the entirety of Hezbollah's Shura Council this evening, including Nasrallah's successor. It was probably not a great idea for Hezbollah's leadership to continue to meet in Beirut under the circumstances. Israel clearly has their number. But meet they did. Looks like about 30 bunker busters brought the meeting to an end. No doubt Israel will use Iran's ballistic missile attack this week as an opportune time to deal with its long term strategic threats. Iran's attack was a gift to Israel. No doubt they'll take advantage of it - oil production, nuclear facilities, and regime change. They seem to be telegraphing a very significant operation in the days ahead. Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis are all Iranian backed militias acting in the interests of Tehran. Iran's ballistic missile attack in Israel finally makes a direct attack on Iran just and permissible. And Israel will take advantage of it.
