After her parents divorced she was the  main caretaker for her two younger brothers, but she always had a dream of coming to the USA and becoming a big superstar.  At 15 she formed a girls group and they performed anywhere they could.  Record exec Evan Rogers was vacationing in Barbados, heard the girls performing and decided that Rhianna was a star.  Evans invited Rhianna and her mother to come to the USA so she could make a demo.  Two years later Jay Z heard her demo tape and signed her to Def Jam. At that time Rhianna's mother allowed her to move to Connecticut and live with Rogers and his family. Jay Z did not "take her away from her family".  :roll:  [/quote]

It’s not simple to just leave to the US. Rihanna’s mom didn’t have a green card and had younger kids to take care of. Rihanna applied for  and received a work visa and was likely sponsored by that guy so she had to live there.

Evan Rogers’ wife is Bajan which is why they were on vacation. His wife is a family friend to one of Rihanna’s  groupmates’ mothers and as a favor she let her husband hear an audition  from the girl group while they were at their hotel but Evan liked Rihanna’s audition more than the  family friend’s daughter. It is barely mentioned that Rihanna started in a girl group. I guess they paid the girl off. Rihanna was in her school uniform during the hotel audition after school.

Much is made about the hotel detail and her living with a male producer  but he was married and where else would she have auditioned? They were on vacation. They didn’t live in Barbados [/quote]
