Because if I had to raise my kids in a town controlled by cartels and have them witness unspeakable violence or end up joining the cartels for protection, I can't say I too wouldn't strap my shit on my back and try to come over here to bust my ass and give my kids a good safe life. THAT is why I refuse to demonize illegal immigrants.
Are there no decent places within their country of origin? Mexico City seems nice to me - in fact preferable to many places in the U.S. I am asking sincerely.
Not PP... I think the US economy is a lot better off in terms of the availability of low skilled jobs. Like others have stated, if businesses didn't hire illegal immigrants, they'd stop coming here. So really, it's the fault of the people who hire them. I can't blame people for wanting a better life for themselves, and their children. The US, for all its faults, is also less corrupt than most of the countries south of the border.
I don't dispute that the US is overall better. My point is that there are other options eveN for those in danger which is a minority. I know quite a few immigrants (I am one also) and none of them *had* to be here like their life depending on it or something. All would survive and lived decent lives in their home countries.
I'm an immigrant (yes, legal), too, from a war torn country. My family escaped the kind of poverty that most people in this country will never now. I don't know what all of the illegal immigrants' lives were like in their home country, but I figure it was quite desperate in order for them to risk life/limb to illegally cross the border. That crossing is dangerous. Many die in the hopes of reaching this country. I figure if they are willing to sacrifice their lives for a better life than their lives at home must've quite desperate indeed.
Most illegals immigrants come through visa overstays. Not sure they ever crossed dangerous borders and it seems they could afford travels and visas. The stereotype of desperate hard working immigrants fighting for life is incorrect (and very annoying to me as it does not apply at all). I am sure it describes some people but whether that is even a majority of highly questionable.
How do you know this? Regardless, for those who are willing to risk life/limb, their lives must've been pretty dire. And we all know that stereotypes don't apply to all, but I presume to know everyone's situation.
Every single HUMAN in most other third world nations have lives that are pretty dire. That does not all fall on the U.S. hands. It is not a freebie to break a law. Stop excusing breaking a federal law. They LEAVE their countrymen in poverty to sneak in here and you think that is noble. Give me an f'ing break!! Noble is staying and making your country better Noble is educating yourself Noble is not procreating every year when you can't even afford food for yourself. Noble is waiting for a LEGAL way to enter the country Could you imagine if all those living in poverty in our inner cities could just get up, sneak into Canada, get a job under the table, get a nicer/safer home and collect government assistance. All of a sudden, we don't have to pay for them but Canada does. But their lives were dire in their home country. They deserve it.
