You may know dozens of anecdotal white people but most of the population gains are overwhelming AA adding to the already AA majority. The rest of your post reeks of sour grapes, not that you would have wanted them but you could have had them if you wanted of course ;) . You choose to live there but you are not a trend or anything more than the exception, not the rule. If more white people wanted to live there, more white people would live there. Stating the facts isn't condescending or racist, it is a realist observation of the situation.
Psst... PG county resident here. There are almost no other white people in my neighborhood, and I could not care less. The people saying that they are white residents of PG are pointing out that they are doing just fine, not that they are part of a larger trend. We don't actually lay awake at night wondering if white people will ever move to PG. I can enjoy my home without white people. I don't care whether white people ever move here or not. Imagine that! I think half the people who have responded to this thread simply cannot believe this.
And this is why we can say categorically that racism is the reason people avoid PG. we know. Because we have been you before. And then confront our own latent racism when we come here and realize how much whiteness is used as an indicator of neighborhood quality. Bowie is just like any other suburb in America...except for its demographic makeup. And to the PP, what you are saying is not exactly true. My part of the county, close to the city, is in fact became whiter between 2010 and 2014. Bowie may not be, but this nonetheless mirrors overall, nationwide trends whereby the suburbs and urban areas are reversing in their demographic makeup. Whites are depopulating the suburbs everywhere.
