[quote=Anonymous]Couple of articles slamming this in Today's Post. From what I read, these are not just family designed. Any of these shelters could serve anyone--including victims of domestic violence, drug addicted, intransigent homeless etc. Just restating the range named in article. Additionally, each of these many shelters would be a total service station according to the article, with counseling, full time guards, job placement, medical and school connections etc. In theory--awesome. In reality, how is this efficient? Why not raze DC General and build a nice multi-unit homeless shelter with wings on the site? Drug addicted and people in need of mental health each get their own wing, families in garden style apartments or what have you, all services consolidated, shuttles to schooling or job hubs? There is a metro close by. This is not meant to be a permanent living arrangement--I am not sure why the city if bending over backwards to place people in what basically come down to overpriced rentals with duplicated services.
