And finally, OP is a non-believer, and her kids don't believe.  Why go through the odd rituals of becoming a "member" of the church if you don't believe in God?  What's the goddamn point?

This poster is just as conflicted as OP - perhaps feeling even more guilt, which is method #1 in brainwashing.  love the fact s/he recognizes hypocrisy, finds that these stories insult his/her intelligence, and says religion is a business!   yet STILL attends church on a regular basis

Yes, non-Catholics have no right to chime in.  How can you be an expert in a faith you've never practiced?

Call me what you want - Groundhog or Scorpion - but I can tell you all about my former religion.  I have an ex-priest in my family and a friend who's also a former priest.  Both left b/c of what they saw IN the church.  (One's from Europe; the other is from here. So I have two continents covered.)

I know what I know, and the church is filled with nothing more than brainwashed fools who will overlook its flaws.
