And then you'll be pissed when your dog dies because they got into some poison. Honestly, I don't know why people insist on deliberately going to war with their neighbors if the neighbors don't want dogs shitting in their yards. I love my dog, too, but will never understand why some people think their dogs should be able to be foul other people's property at will. We all know that you can't always get the whole poop up. Anybody who says otherwise is lying.
POISON? Are you seriously talking about poisoning dogs because they go to the bathroom someplace where you'd rather they not? I won't be the first to make this observation: but this board is filled with some real lunatics. Who seem willing to risk going to jail for animal cruelty over some pretty small potatoes things. OP - if you are someone who avoids confrontation, then try to get your dog to avoid that yard. If you're not, then your pearl-clutching prude of a neighbor can just live with the horror, the horror, of existing in the same space as dogs.
The SAME SPACE THAT IS ACTUALLY HER YARD!!! Why don't you get this? She doesn't want a dog in her yard! I get that dog owners don't care, and that most neighbors don't care, but thinking that's there is something insane about someone who doesn't want other people's leashed pets shitting on their property is what seems totally crazy to me. Respect the woman's request and have the dog poop elsewhere.
So she puts a motion controlled sprinkler out front making the public sidewalk her own private walkway... I get the irritation to a degree especially if the dog poop is messy and leaves a mark on the grass - that is gross. But this is not happening every day and the dog owner and dog are not targeting your yard. Losing your mind and threatening to poison a dog over something so mundane is...sort of scary actually.
Yes, exactly! There are some ways you can deter dogs. One, like others have said, is a sprinkler. That won't kill anyone! Another is a fence. Those "please don't poop here" signs are also surprisingly effective - at least I try to avoid yards that have them, because I am not a completely insensitive person. But on top of being illegal, poisoning dogs is no deterrent at all. The dogs won't understand cause and effect. So all you'll have done is hurt someone without actually getting what you want out of it - which is that pristine, poop-free bit of grass.
